If this Pitchfork Guest List is indeed on the level, then John Maus deserves every bit of the venom spewed at him (some of it by me) in this ILM thread. If it is in fact the elaborate joke some have suggested, right on down to the offhand Odd Future endorsement, then Maus might be some kind of ingenious satirist (though if “Rights For Gays” is any indication of what the rest of his music sounds like, he clearly reserves none of his wit for his music). If anything other than the usual sniping (again, me) has come from this, it is thanks to Eric Harvey’s wise, thoughtful defence.
